Here we go…
The gig started later than 9 pm (time shown on tickets), maybe ’cause it wasn’t dark enough to emphasize lighting games. Before the boys got onstage, a really (REALLY) lame dj played like 20 mins of the same minimal house loop, so people started booing and throwing bottles at him.
Then some cool dubstep music was played. The vibe was cool, everybody seemed to be anxious but happy to see the prodge.
Than the new intro kicked in, introducing World’s On Fire. People went totally crazy! Bass sound on the soundsystem was groundbreaking, although a bit more mids and highs were needed.
Their Law: always violent, but needs to be pumped and refreshed a bit, imo.
Third track played was Breathe + Breathe Dubstep. Cool sounds, maybe the dubstep part was too long. Anyway then Omen was played, what a tune: everyone was singin’ it and clapping their hands.
Maxim introduced Poison. Bass on chapter two made my stomach rumbling. They played the track and did a long jam at its end. It was one of the few parts of the concert where people could relax a bit, it was VERY HOT and sweat was everywhere.
Warrior’s dance was truly enjoyable, made all the crazy people jump.
Firestarter made things even more dangerous: the moshpit was unbelievably brutal, here. But it was nothing compared to Run With The Wolves: this track (introduced by Action Radar’s link) was a real trip to HELL. I’ve never seen such a mess in a prodge gig. And it was my 4th gig, so…
Then… VOODOO time! One word: rave.
Comanche was a standout moment. I was headbanging and dancing to it, it’s a very cool song.
A little break, then Liam played Omen reprise with red leds behind him running like they were KITT’s scanning lights in Knight Rider. I got chills on my back.
Invaders Must Die: this live version kicks some serious ass! Liked the dance feeling Liam’s added to it.
Blow Ya Mind (PAIN version): this rocked hard, another punch in my stomach.
Smack My Bitch Up saw the crowd going crazy again and sitting down only to explode after Shahin Badar’s vocal part. This reminded me Slipknot’s performances of “Spit it Out”.
Then Maxim announced a track that “has never been played before to anyone else”. I was hoping for some new shit, but… no, nothing new on the menu. Oh, well, Take Me To The Hospital was played…. First time I listen to this live, absolutly great, even slowed down to add more impact on the downbeats.
As usual, Out Of Space and Stand Up for the ending titles.
What can I say? Brilliant concert, songs from IMD are really designed to be played live, FOTL songs need to be pumped up a bit (I couldn’t hear breathe starting!).
By the way, during the Poison jam (not really sure), Maxim rapped One Man Army’s lyrics and some small melodic parts were played as fills during the set. Hope to hear some new and fresh prodigy stuff in the near future.
Good luck to those who go to Naples tonight. Enjoy yourselves and try not to be taken to the hospital!
