It was a hot august day. Me and around 40 other people had gathered in front of the entrance to the venue around two hours before the doors opened. I thought I would shoot my shot at getting an autograph from Liam and Max for my vinyl copies of Fat Of The Land and AONO. The people were really hyped for the concert and the security guard guarding the entrance was starting to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people who had came there so early so he had to call his supervisor who could inform us on when we could enter.
When the supervisor arrived around 15 minutes before the doors opened, he explained that the concert would open it’s doors soon and we would have to follow him into the ticket checking area without running. Like usual, the moment the doors opened everybody started running and screaming “PRODIGY”. When I arrived to my section of the entrance (since I had a Golden circle pass) I persuaded the backstage guards into letting me in by bribing them. I passed the gates and I continued walking between the tour trucks and I reached the area where the band was waiting to perform. They were situated at a makeshift buffet where they had just finished eating. I went to greet them and talked to them. Liam was particularly in a good mood and so was Maxim. As they signed my records, I asked Liam some questions in regards to the recording process of Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned specifically when were some tracks recorded. After talking with the for around ten minutes, I decided that it was time to go back to the main venue. Once I got back, I immediately went to the merch stand to see if caught my eye. I managed to buy a red shirt with a picture of the band with their name. After that, I headed to the golden circle to meet up with a friend who came earlier. At the Golden Circle, I got to see the show opener High Roll, which were two local DJs mixing some traditional Bulgarian music with some Drum’n Bass. After they finished their set about half an hour later, the production came on to set the stage for The Prodigy. Then about Nine and a half, the band came out, with Maxim entering last with a thick fur coat. They started with their usual opener Omen, which really pumped up the crowd and everybody started jumping. After that they continued on with “Voodoo people”, “Poison” and etc. What really surprised me was that they played a medley of “Warrior’s dance/Climbatize” since they don’t played really often. Midway through that medley, Maxim’s microphone seemed to stop working so he had to retreat backstage for the remainder of the song and the next one. And just as everybody thought the show would face some problems, Liam queued “Firestarter” and Maxim came back onto the stage, throwing water bottles at the crowd. Since there was a mosh pit gathering up during “Invaders must die”, me and my friend saw the opportunity to get in front of the stage. Just as we got there, they began playing “No Good” which for me was probably the highlight of the night. Throughout the entirety of the concert, there was a smell of weed which permeated the entire venue, and Maxim called that out at the beginning of “Get your fight on”. The rest of the night was incredible in general, with the band throwing some flags into the crowd as they did their encore. The show closer “Comanche(The big gundown)” had to be loudest songs I’ve heard live. I could literally feel my insides jumping inside my body as the bass of the speakers blasted trough the air.
When it came time for the band to leave, they started throwing guitar picks and drumsticks into the crowd. Luckily, I managed to catch a drumstick which was great but I had to hide it in my bag since somebody could have beaten up in order to steal it. As the concert came to an end, the large amounts people started heading towards the exit. Because of that dust filled the air, which was probably the worst part of the show.
Anyways, this had to be one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. A-must see in my opinion!!!!!
