Review by Treacy Meyer:
It was a hot night, still around 28 degrees by the time we arrived at Two Tribes around 5.00pm. The venue was about 30 minutes out of Perth at Mulberry Farm in the Swan Valley. The Stage was set amongst the Eucalyptus trees.a very pleasant setting. We made our way to the stage an hour before the boys came on.they were due to start at 7.45pm. The best spot we could grab was the security exit on the right hand side of the stage. The excitement in the crowd was palpable, there was lots of speculation about the playlist. One of the security guards told us that the first two tunes were going to be played up the hill behind us, which seemed a bit strange.this didn’t transpire either because he had the wrong information or
because they had logistical problems.
DJ Zinc finished his set, slowed down the beats and started playing breaks. The anticipation was building.finally there was a rush of roadies, equipment being taken off and set up and there they were on stage! They started with Wake Up Call. the fans went mad!
Keith and Maxim were on top form.working the crowd. Keith jumped off stage a few times dribbling and sneering at the crowd.then ran over and rammed his tongue down the girl next to me! She seemed to appreciate the effort, in spite of Keith’s sweatiness and drooling.
One girl had to be dragged over the balustrade after she fainted, she wasn’t looking too clever and was carried around the back of the stage, it was quite intense down the front, the crowd were amped and it was a hot night.
We nearly had our heads taken off when the two guys behind us donned their gas masks and tried to shimmy up the rigging via the fence. Unfortunately for them (probably fortunate for the Prods) they didn’t make it. they were obviously too pissed to be co-ordinated and were tackled down by the security guards.
Keith was yelling to turn it up at one point, I’m not sure if he was yelling at us, or the sound guys?
Poison and SMBU were two of the last tracks.the fans were going off. It finished all too quickly and we thought we might get a second encore. But security were telling us that they weren’t coming out again and then Bukem started setting up, so the crowd dispersed pretty quickly.
We were disappointed not to hear Out of Space but thankful that they decided to come to Perth at all, especially considering they were playing that morning in Sydney and then had to turn around and fly 5 hours across the country! It would’ve been very convenient to leave us out and fly from Sydney to Brisbane, but as usual.they were looking after their fans. It was a top notch gig, there is a huge fan base here in Perth so hopefully they’ll be back soon!!!
