A month goes by and 2 of my friends decided they can’t go anymore. So a week before the gig I had 2 spare tickets and was trying my best to give them away. Another two friends grab hold of them but they dropped out with a day to go. This is when I remember ‘Anzee’ and I give him a ring. He is excited and very happy to go see the band.
The day of the gig comes and I woke up on what was the sunniest morning this year so far. I shaved off my ‘tash and went to pick up my mates. After a good 4 hour drive (including all the beer stops) we ended up in Roomz hotel which is 150 metres  away from the actual venue. Oh god I am a good planner! As me and my mate checked in at the receiption the lovely lady inform us that the hotel bar is opened 24 hours – einfach klasse! Up in the room I noticed a sign on the TV saying »Welcome Mrs.« – I knew I shouldn’t have shaved! After me and my friend ran out of beer we decided to go downstairs to the bar. Just as we got our beers a certain Miss. Schnepf appeared. No wait – two Miss. Schnepf’s appeared! It was Neko and her sister. We moved to a bigger table and started having drinks. My other two friends soon joined us and beers, mojitos and vodka tonics kept coming in! We talked about random stuff but Mirjam kept talking about the local cuisine and how many ‘wiener schnitzels’ she ate! I also ended up doing my impersonation of swiss german – it didn’t go down very well. After couple of rounds I went upstairs to get a Nekosite banner I made for Andrea.  We laughed about it and when Anzee (luckily he brought his camera with him, as mine died soon after) came it felt like a proper meeting – only James Jupiter was missing! We talked how funny it would be to show the banner to the band but we somehow managed to lose it! Drinks never stopped coming to our table and soon some of our company got so loud the hotel manager had to tell us that »we are not at the stadium« haha! This was a good time for us to leave the hotel and walk those 150 meters to the venue!
The venue was so close most of us walked there in t-shirts even though it was pretty cold and windy. Thanks to Andrea and John I somehow ended up on the guestlist but getting a pass still proved to be a challenge until Andrea helped me spell out my name in german! After that we soon ended up in the venue – no queues and no waiting whatsoever. We got to stand just left of the stage and close to the bar. Drinks were very easy to get especially if a nice girl offered to bring you beers, yaay!
The Intro starts playing not long after we assumed our positions. The band walked on stage, crowd started cheering and soon ‘Worlds On Fire’ kicks in. People got pretty into it! As they did when ‘Their Law’ dropped. Maxim appeared walking on the bar all of a sudden and Anzee being very near jumped right next to him to snap some photos (later he moved to the front where he took some really cool ones – as you can see below). Mirjam nearly dropped her beer as everyone turned around to see what Maxim is doing.
‘Breathe’ came on after that and during ‘Breathe Dubstep’ the hair on my arms stood up everytime the bass kicked in cause it was so low – boom! Crowd went absolutely crazy when ‘Omen’ got played. ‘Poison’ was back in the set after being AWOL for some gigs at the begining of the year. Also there were some new bits at the end of it.
‘Warriors Dance’ was next and I remember talking to Andrea how I don’t really feel this track on the record but live it was amazing. Mandatory ‘Firestarter’ was next and it didn’t sound too exciting next to the new tracks in the set. The other track that I don’t really get as much as the others on the record was ‘Run With The Wolves’ but that also proved as one of the stronger tracks live.
The amazing ‘Voodoo People’ was next and after that ‘Comanche’. Just before the end the computer must have crashed or something cause the track suddenly ended and you could see Liam doing something on the computer before the track started again but not for very long as he stopped it soon after. The band walked off and I started joking about how it was over and that we should leave.
The band walked back on and the new version of ‘Invaders Must Die’ that they played rocks big time! New ‘Diesel Power’ starts with a new melody on top of it which later Liam explained is a bootleg of ‘Diesel Power’ and Pain’s ‘Shut Your Mouth’ that he somehow found on YouTube. ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ is on after that and I was surprised how loud the guitars were on this. The track rocked but as I knew what was next I got rid of my beer glass. Rave stabs kicked in and it was time to ‘Take Me To The Hospital’. This track took number 1 spot on my ‘sickest tracks ever’ list away from ‘Smack’!
