General opinion is that Firestarter made it’s live debut at Ilford Island, the day after this gig at Stafford. But it’s quite possible that The Prodigy chose to test the night before at the smaller venue. I am yet to find a setlist or anyone who attended this gig to confirm. Seems an important detail in the history of The Prodigy that we should know right? Or maybe there is written confirmation from a reliable source (ie the band or one of the biographies) which confirms where Firestarter was premiered?
I attended this gig, & despite being a fan at the time, I simply don’t remember if they played firestarter or not with any certainty. What I do remember is Leeroy had these super scary contact lenses & he picked me to stare at unflinching for what felt like forever but was probably about 10 seconds. It really freaked me out! haha
btw, its actually “Staffordshire University”, not Stafford. Stafford is another town & a separate campus.
